Nabil M. Al-Sabih is a Founding Member and Principal of Eastbridge Al Mal Holdings. Mr. Al-Sabih is Head of Business Development for all Energy Related Entities and responsible for the overall relationship with Al Mal.
Recently Held Positions
From 2006 to 2009, Mr. Al-Sabih was an Advisor to Group Six Co., a privately held company based in Kuwait, to manage proprietary investments across various sectors. It has since grown to provide independent financial and strategic advice to energy, real estate, financial/banking companies and to private equity investors, leveraging the personal relationships held in the various sectors internationally and within the MENA region. His advisory work included U.S. Fortune 500 companies, as well as large, privately held global institutions.
Prior to 2006, Mr. Al-Sabih spent nearly 15 years with Kuwait Petroleum Corporation (KPC). His last position was as a Director of Business Development responsible for KPC’s international downstream business development activities in the Far East and USA and oversaw an investment budget of over $2.5 billion. He was responsible for new company initiatives incorporating bi- and tri-venture strategic alignments with International and National Oil Companies in China, South Korea, Philippines, Singapore, Taiwan, Japan & USA. Mr. Al-Sabih acted as Project Manager leading many initiatives, he regularly directed and reviewed the technical and financial evaluations for specific projects and potential acquisitions. In his many roles, he determined the scope and scale of detailed assessments of proposals—technical, market-related, financial and legal.
Mr. Al-Sabih has extensive experience in international negotiations and defining the general terms and conditions, memoranda of understanding, joint venture agreements, contractual and definitive agreements and other joint venture-related documents for investment projects and acquisitions internationally. He was also the key member in drafting and negotiating (on behalf of KPC and the Government of the State of Kuwait) country memoranda of understanding for Energy Cooperation with international oil companies and state-run oil companies (in China, Pakistan, South Korea and Japan).
Historical Positions
Mr. Al-Sabih joined KPC in 1992, where he started selling crude oil and petroleum products covering worldwide spot sales, marine/vessel chartering/demurrage, contract negotiations and coordination with supply operations, marketing intelligence and research. He was later responsible for term and spot sales into Japan, South Korea, China, Taiwan, Singapore, Turkey, UK, France, The Netherlands, Brazil and the United States—managing spot contracts worth over $1.5 billion annually.
From 1994 to 2003, Mr. Al-Sabih was instrumental in establishing the company’s commercial presence in the United States, Houston, Texas and in Washington, D.C., where he opened and managed both offices. Mr. Al-Sabih increased KPC’s U.S. market share by 300% while in Houston. The Washington office was primarily set up as a pseudo-lobbying entity and liaison for joint-venture investments worldwide, initially with Western companies for ‘Project Kuwait’—Kuwait’s upstream investment initiative.
He is a graduate of Georgetown University, where he received a BS in Business Administration.
